The Steuben County Communications Center is the 9-1-1 Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) for many municipalities, fire districts, and the Emergency Medical Service Agency that serves all of Steuben County. County Dispatchers are responsible for answering 12 non-emergency phone lines, 911 emergency lines, monitor and respond on approximately 30 radio frequencies, and handle approximately 2,500 calls for service per month.

We use state of the art training, and equipment to ensure the best possible service to those requiring our assistance. We are trained in Emergency Medical Dispatch where we provide pre-arrival instructions until appropriate EMS responders can arrive. We are versed in communication techniques to accommodate any caller's emotional state. We use Computer Aided Dispatching, developed by Spillman Technologies, computerized radio screens, CML 9-1-1 computer touch screens with Microdata computerized mapping systems, access to national and state criminal information centers, disseminate National Weather Service advisories to the county area…. and this is only a small portion of the duties we perform.
