3/25/20 PSA re: COVID-19
March 25th, 2020
The Steuben County Health Department (SCHD) has continued to work with community partners to ensure that we are adequately prepared for the coronavirus or COVID-19 in our county. In Steuben County, we have tested thirty (30) individuals with seventeen (17) pending as of today, March 25th, 2020, for the virus and all test results have been reported as negative.
Today, March 25th, 2020, begins the Stay-at-Home directive from Governor Holcomb. The directive is to stay at home and only go out when essential activities are needed (i.e. grocery shopping, urgent medical concerns, etc.). There are services and industries that are considered essential to the functioning of our community. Additional information can be found at https://coronavirus.in.gov/2496.htm and a hotline for business owner-related inquiries at 1-877-820-0890.
With the uncertainty of personal protective equipment (PPE) supplies and shipments becoming a well-known issue, the Steuben County Health Department is calling on the community to donate any extra PPE supplies in original, unopened packaging. The collection of these supplies will be distributed across our community partners as needed. We are accepting donations, including, but not limited to, the following items:
- Disposable Gowns
- N95 respirator face masks
- Disposable face masks
- Disinfection wipes and liquids
- General-purpose hand cleaners (sanitizing gel)
All donations can be dropped off at our building located at 317 S. Wayne St. Angola, IN 46703 during normal business hours. Please call 260-668-1000 Ex. 1500 to notify staff and we will meet at the front entrance of the building.
We thank you and appreciate your help.
If you have any questions about coronavirus or COVID-19, please contact us during normal business hours at (260) 668-1000 Ex. 1500.
