Steuben County has a total of 97 COVID-19 positive cases, 71 individuals considered recovered and 2 deaths associated with COVID-19.
The Steuben County Health Department was notified on June 3rd, 2020, that the OptumServe COVID-19 testing location was requested to move to a more viable long-term option. After input and deliberation with county officials, a new location at the Lion’s Club building at the Steuben County Parks was found. The information was relayed to the State Department of Health and the transfer to the new location was to happen shortly thereafter.
On Saturday June 6th, 2020, the health department was notified that the OptumServe staff and site in Steuben County at the Indiana Nation Guard armory would be closing and would become a regional mobile testing to assist with long term care facilities. Although, the health department was disappointed with the changes, the safety of essential employees and residents they assist is paramount. The closest OptumServe location to Steuben County would be at the Community Learning Center, 401 E. Diamond St. Kendallville IN 46755.
Cameron Memorial Community Hospital and the Steuben County Health Department met to discuss COVID-19 testing in the community. After conferring about COVID-19 testing parameters, a decision was made to allow for asymptomatic individuals who have had potential exposure to a confirmed positive COVID-19 patient can seek testing at the Cameron Respiratory Clinic located at 1381 N Wayne St. Angola IN 46703.Testing is by appointment only and for scheduling, please call Cameron COVID-19 Resource Screening line 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. at (260) 667-5555.
